How much a sworn translation costs
The cost of a sworn translation depends on a few clear factors. We don't publish a fixed price list because every document is different: the quote is always free and no-obligation.
What makes up the price
- Translation: based on document length, language and terminology.
- Urgency: an urgent delivery may carry a surcharge.
- Stamp duty: due by law, except for exemptions (see below).
- Apostille or legalization: only if the document must be valid abroad.
Stamp duty
A stamp duty of 16 € every 4 pages normally applies to the sworn translation (unless the Court states otherwise). It is a legal cost, not our fee.
When stamp duty is not due
Some uses are exempt by law (e.g. school enrolment, separation and divorce, adoptions). Exemption depends on the use and the Court: we tell you if your case qualifies, so you don't pay more than necessary.
