Sworn translation of the Driver CPC (CQC) — Goods & Passenger Transport
A sworn translation of the Driver CPC (CQC) helps foreign professional drivers and haulage companies have the goods- and passenger-transport qualification recognised in Italy. We translate the documents and swear to their fidelity in Court.
It is needed to have the professional driving qualification recognised, to hire foreign drivers, for Motor Vehicle Office procedures and for roadside checks in goods and passenger transport.
When you need a sworn translation of the Driver CPC (CQC)
The Driver CPC (CQC) and professional drivers' documents must be translated and sworn to be recognised in Italy. The most frequent cases for drivers and companies:
- Hiring foreign drivers by haulage companies.
- Recognition of the qualification for goods and passenger transport.
- Motor Vehicle Office procedures linked to the licence and professional categories.
- Roadside checks in professional transport.
- Transport tenders and contracts requiring qualified drivers.
- Regularising several drivers in a single company job.
Driver CPC, professional licence and qualification: what to translate
The Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC), in Italy the CQC, certifies professional fitness to drive in goods transport and passenger transport. When a driver obtained the qualification abroad — or when an Italian company hires foreign drivers — the documents must be translated and sworn to be recognised by the Motor Vehicle Office, by employers and in roadside checks.
We translate the CPC/CQC, the certificate of professional competence and the licence with its categories (C, CE, D, DE), ensuring an exact match of codes, categories and annotations: these details determine the entitlements actually recognised. The translation alone is necessary but not always sufficient, because recognition also depends on EU rules and on agreements with the issuing country: that's why we set out the correct sequence in advance.
We often work with haulage companies and staffing agencies that need to regularise several drivers: in those cases we handle the files in bulk, with an invoice and agreed timing.
What to prepare and attach
- A clear photo of the front and back of the CPC/CQC or certificate of professional competence, fully legible.
- The driving licence with the professional categories (C, CE, D, DE) you want recognised.
- An ID document for the correct transcription of personal data.
- The intended use (hiring, recognition, conversion).
Delivery time
For the CPC/CQC and related documents we usually deliver within 5 working days of confirmation. For several drivers or company fleets we agree dedicated timing and terms.
Stamp duty
Stamp duty normally applies, except in cases of exemption provided by law. For companies we issue a proper invoice and state the amount in the quote.
Validity abroad
If the documents must be valid abroad we add the apostille or legalisation after the sworn translation. Recognition of the qualification also depends on EU rules and on agreements with the issuing country: we guide you on the correct route.
